INGREDIENTS
- 150 g cooked black beans, or cooked red beans
- 3 tbsp peanut butter, or any nut butter such as almond butter
- 3 tbsp raw cacao
- 2 –3 tbsp honey, or maple syrup or agave syrup for vegan
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 –6 tbsp plant-based milk, almond or coconut; add gradually until texture is right
- A pinch of salt
- Optional: 1 tbsp coconut oil for extra creaminess
EQUIPMENT
- Blender or food processor
- Spatula
- Glass jar with lid
METHOD
- Add the beans, peanut butter, cacao, honey, vanilla and salt to the blender.
- Start blending and gradually add the plant milk until you reach a smooth creamy texture.
- (Optional) Add the coconut oil and blend for another minute.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or thickness (add a little more honey or milk if needed).
- Transfer to a glass jar and refrigerate. Keeps for up to 7 days.
NOTES
- Adding half a ripe banana makes it more kid-friendly and naturally sweeter.
- If we warm it slightly before serving, it becomes glossy and melty like ganache.
