INGREDIENTS

  • 150 g cooked black beans, or cooked red beans
  • 3 tbsp peanut butter, or any nut butter such as almond butter
  • 3 tbsp raw cacao
  • 2 –3 tbsp honey, or maple syrup or agave syrup for vegan
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 –6 tbsp plant-based milk, almond or coconut; add gradually until texture is right
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional: 1 tbsp coconut oil for extra creaminess

EQUIPMENT

  • Blender or food processor
  • Spatula
  • Glass jar with lid

METHOD

  1. Add the beans, peanut butter, cacao, honey, vanilla and salt to the blender.
  2. Start blending and gradually add the plant milk until you reach a smooth creamy texture.
  3. (Optional) Add the coconut oil and blend for another minute.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness or thickness (add a little more honey or milk if needed).
  5. Transfer to a glass jar and refrigerate. Keeps for up to 7 days.

NOTES

  • Adding half a ripe banana makes it more kid-friendly and naturally sweeter.
  • If we warm it slightly before serving, it becomes glossy and melty like ganache.
